How to set up segmented (filtered) reporting
To set up segmented (filtered) reporting in Survey Automator:
1. Go to Dashboard, open the settings (cogwheel), and choose Multiple Reports.
2. Select the question you want to segment on (for example Location or Department). The platform generates one report view per answer option.
3. Run Update reports, then go back to the Dashboard to switch between the segmented views (via a dropdown/selection) and download the one you need.
Share segmented results
You can create a client link to the Dashboard and have a specific segment preselected. Depending on your setup, you can also be able to restrict the client so they only see that segment.
Create one report view per segment
Segmented (filtered) reporting creates one report view per answer option in the question you segment on.
Example:
● Segment on the “Location” question
● The platform creates one view per location
● Each view only shows responses from that location
Same idea works for any other question you want to segment by.
Set a minimum response threshold
When you split results into many segmented views, some segments will be small. You can set a minimum response threshold so a segmented view is only generated when there are enough responses to show. This keeps the output cleaner and helps avoid sharing results for very small groups.
Compare segments without extra setup
Segmented (filtered) reporting also makes comparisons easier, because every segment uses the same report structure.
● Compare answer options within the same question (example: Segment A vs Segment B)
● Compare each segment against the overall results (example: Location A vs Overall)
When segmented (filtered) reporting is a good fit
This is useful if you:
● Share results with multiple audiences who each need “their” view
● Want the same report layout repeated across segments
● Need to scale reporting without building separate reports manually
● Expect the number of segments to change over time
Segmented (filtered) reporting makes it easy to package results for different audiences without duplicating your work.
